Benedict and Turner both give similar depictions of war in
their own way. Benedict is able to show the struggles of war by telling the
story through the eyes of women. One woman is a soldier, while the other is an
innocent civilian. The reader is able to feel the struggles for both women, by
hearing their experiences and following their emotional struggles.
In Here, Bullet
Turner is also able to make the reader feel the intense emotions of war. The main
differences are that Turner uses poetry to eloquently portray his message, and
his poems are from the viewpoint of a male soldier. It is interesting to see
both how brave and simultaneously scared soldiers are during war time. Both of
these literary works serve great justice to the sacrifices that soldiers make
for our freedom.
