Torture

Torture is a method of interrogation that is centuries old. It has been previously defended by saying that valuable information has been received through it and it has saved lives, which may be true. But it still is an unproductive way to get information because one of two things will happen. One, you will receive information from your detainee which is most likely gibberish, such as the first detainee in the movie saying everyday of the week hoping those committing torture would stop water boarding or giving out beatings or turn off the music, give them solid food, take them out of a 5x5 box or simply allow them to sleep. People will say anything to avoid this type of punishment. This discredits all detainees as you now either have to follow everything you are told or can not trust anything you are told.  Second, you get someone who is actually trained in counter interrogation and feeds you information that will harm intelligence operations by diverting man power and money in the opposite direction of actually targets and threats. This not even bring into the equation the ethical side of torture which has never been questioned in the past 75 years as morally evil.
