12 years working for the CIA and Mya accomplishes killing Osama bin Laden. Along the way we see the doubt plaguing information obtained from detainees and the workers who obtain the information. The movie did an excellent job in representing documented CIA methods of gaining information. It showed not only the physical and emotional strain on the detainees but the CIA agents themselves It is quite amazing to think that Mya invested 12 years of her life to one goal.
The scene when Jessica, Mya's fellow CIA agent, allows the Al-Qaeda doctor to come into the military base without being checked seemed unrealistic. In a war, where anyone could be the enemy it would seem impossible that such security risks would be taken. Jessica's views on Al-Qaeda only wanting money seemed just as far-fetched and ill-informed. It seemed to place desires of the American dream, lots of money, onto Al-Qaeda members, who at the base are fanatic members of Islam.
Overall, I thought the movie was entertaining and well-done. There were moments that left me scratching my head in confusion at their truthfulness, but the movie's plot moved in a way that I could understand and analyze.
I find it interesting that you bring up the director's intent to place the American Dream on Al-Qaeda members. What's so interesting about this conflict is how rooted it was in fundamentalist ideology rather than weak political beliefs easily overridden by bribery.
