Benedict vs Turner
Benedict and Turner's writing are both very similar in the fact convey the struggle and hardships of war. Benedict shows war through the perspective of a women solider and an innocent civilian women. The Sand Queen is the first narrative of a women in war I have read. I enjoyed reading from a women's point of view because it showed that along with the hardships every solider endures, she also deals with added hardships due to her gender. Turner's writings capture the struggles of war as well, his writings do not mention the role of gender.
